Week 34- Photo shoot

It's been two whole weeks (or more!) since my last update. Sorry, it must be the holidays. Cam and I have had a great week. We spent Christmas morning with Lynne, Chris, Theresa and Sam eating way too much delicious brunch. Then Cam went off to the ski area and I cruised over to my Aunty Bobby Jo's (to eat yet more food!) It was a great day.

Today, Rasmuson Foundation hosted a wonderful baby shower for me--they have been so great! And showered us with an overwhelming number of best wishes and gifts. Thanks guys! Cam and I will have to spend some time figuring out what all this stuff is supposed to do. :-). We got tons of great stuff but I'm including a photo of Cam's favorite gift--apparently he and my boss Jeff have discovered a shared passion for licorice all-sorts. So, Jeff set up Cam for at least the next year with a gigantic box of goodies!
Also, I have to mention that Cam has assembled the baby changing table--things are starting to come together in our "nursery." I'll post some pictures soon.

I've gotten a couple of requests for new photos so here's an entire photo shoot. Melissa, that Hollywood pose is for you. (The cheesy grin is for Jess.)

Week 32--Baby faces

So, the really fantastic part of lots of fetal monitoring and ultrasounds is getting to see our baby every week now! This morning I was treated to the sight of a little mouth opening and closing, some practice breathing and many, many kicks. I think we're in a growth spurt because I have been so HUNGRY this week! I'm sure it takes a lot of energy to move around this much.

Week 31/ Part 2- More orange and brown!

More orange and brown today! Here's the new stroller that Cam assembled immediately and is ready to go....the changing table is still unassembled in the baby's room. :-). Hmmm.... I'm not sure what this says about us.
Here we go with Week 32 and on my way to work again.

Week 31--Nursery themes!

I know, I know. You don't want to see this--you want belly shots! I'll get Cam to take one tonight. In the meantime, a few people have asked about our nursery theme. Nursey themes, who knew!? We seem to have settled on Orange/Brown--and we'll add some gender specific color when the time comes! Hot pink/ blue/green? Who knows?

I loved this owl decal from Etsy and the crib from Amazon. :-).

In other news, our due date has moved up to January so it looks like Baby Bain will arrive sometime next month!

Week 29-Here we come!

It was a quiet weekend but Milo and I got out for a walk with our friends Lynne and Piper. Here's a pic of me on the Coastal Trail with downtown Anchorage barely visible over my shoulder. Lynne assured me you can still see the baby bump underneath my puffy. I sent the picture to Jessica who was impressed I can still zip the puffy. :-).

Week 28 photo

Okay, I've gotten several requests so here it is. I'm on my way to work today. Thanks to Monica for the nice maternity sweater (and other clothes) and my mom for sending the green shirt
(and other maternity clothes!)
I'm way better dressed now then pre-pregnancy. :-)

Week 28 beckons--Third Trimester!

We take a break from our regularly scheduled program to show off some hilarious old pics that I found while cleaning out the second bedroom to make way for baby. These ones are mostly from our first season in Crested Butte before we were dating--and obviously eager CBMR employees. Ahh, so fresh faced, so much hair! I believe the one with my mom is the first time she met Cam in the spring of 1999.

Big snows--big belly

We got our first big snow of the season last night. This means a few things--Anchorage drivers will be paralyzed for the next two days like they've never seen this white stuff before and Cam is working late at the ski area because they've decided to open. Tomorrow. He's building a ramp at the top of the chairlift as I write this.

Me, on the other hand, just gets to enjoy six inches of fresh snow. My friend Amanda and I broke out the Nordic gear for the first ski at Kincaid Park. It was a peaceful night on the trails and we had a beautiful evening. Now, I'm back at home with the fire going in the stove--it's feeling like winter!

For the record, that pink strip you see is actually a shirt--and not bare skin. I'm not that brave!!!

Week 25, Going on 26

Cam isn't home tonight but I really wanted to get the blog post out--so you get to see my own iphone handiwork in this week's photos. I'm fresh from yoga practice. That's why I'm so relaxed. :-). Cam is out meeting with his Park crew and lining out all the new features for the season-there's talk of using an old van as a rail slide...more on that later.

Anyhoo, we had a great Halloween with our friends Chris and Theresa and their 1 1/2 year old Sam. Sam dressed up as the devil (although he's really the opposite) and handed out treats to the bands of trick or treaters that descend on the Turnagain neighborhood. My favorites were a homemade slinky, a comet and a trio that included Harry Potter, Hermione and the baby sister, which was dressed up as Hedwig. Too cute.

Week 24-Where's Cam?

I've had a few people ask where DAD is....Cam has been busy this fall. Here's a picture of him recovering with Milo after a long weekend of tuning up the snowmaking system at the ski area, raking leaves at home, putting the gardens to bed, splitting wood, hanging the television on the wall in the living room, mowing the lawns and...did I mention I'm nesting? The projects just keep on coming...
I love this photo of Cam...does he look like a Gunnison rancher or what?

Weeks 22/23--Time flies and bellies get bigger!

Oops, we skipped a week. Well, it's been some busy weeks!
It's feeling like fall here in Alaska and Cam and I have been busy chopping firewood and stacking it for winter. (Okay, Cam has done most of this.) We decided to head for warmer weather. This past weekend, my family descended on San Antonio for my Grandmom Blackburn's 90th birthday celebration. Grandmom is doing great and just as active as ever. We had a great time in the backyard, drinking gallons of Grandmom's perfect sweet tea, playing Hollywood Rummy and catching up with cousins, aunts, uncles and new additions. Here's a picture of my little brother Byron and I at the San Antonio Riverwalk. As you can see, the bump is growing!

Trip home to Washington

Week 21, I got to spend most of last week in Western Washington at a philanthropy conference in Blaine. I caught up with my college roommate Ana in Bellingham and spent some quality time with family in Olympia and Issaquah. Here I am with baby's older cousin Rose! Rose is quite excited for our new arrival to get here!

19 Weeks!

Cam and I spent a long weekend hiking in Seward, along with our friends Lynne and Mike, Amanda and Bryant and Matt Gutter, who's visiting us from Crested Butte. We had absolutely fabulous weather and did a ton of hikes. Here we are overloooking Resurrection Bay on the way to an old WWII fort. The baby loves walking--lots of kicks on the trail!
